Mmmm, Chocolate.....uh, Covered Bacon?! WTF?!

Yes, as the title implies, there really is "Chocolate Covered Bacon".
Here it is straight from WIKIPEDIA:



Chocolate covered bacon is an American dish that consists of cooked bacon with a coating of either milk chocolate or dark chocolate. It can be topped with sea salt, crumbled pistachio or almond bits. References on the internet date back at least to 2005. The popularity of the dish has spread and the dish has featured on television shows about food. A variant has been served at state fairs, where the bacon is served with chocolate sauce for dipping. It was even developed into a gourmet food bar.

Preperation
The type of bacon used to make chocolate covered bacon is the traditional streaky bacon. It is first cooked, then immersed in melted chocolate; toppings (if any) are added, and the dish is allowed to cool. A variation is to dip the bacon in melted chocolate for a partial coating, leaving some of the bacon showing.

Reception
Chocolate covered bacon is sold as a specialty food across the United States. It appeared at the Minnesota State Fair under the name "Pig Lickers"; it is sold at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk in California and under the name "Pig Candy" by a chocolate maker in New York City.

The dish has appeared on the television show Dinner: Impossible as one of the foods served by chef Michael Symon as part of his "mission" to turn everyday boardwalk foods into a gourmet meal at the boardwalk in Wildwood, New Jersey.

A chocolate-covered bacon bar is also marketed by the Chicago-based luxury chocolate company Vosges Haut-Chocolate as "Mo's Bacon Bar". According to the company, "Sweet and smoky and salty is the perfect trifecta." They are sold online for $7.50 per 3 oz. bar. Vosges Haut shipped their product to London, England, to Selfridges & Co., where their stock sold out in 48 hours. Not everyone was as excited about Mo's porcine delicacy; one British journalist said, "It is the vilest thing I've ever eaten. It's like the chocolate came out of a full ashtray."

Bacon was served with a chocolate dipping sauce at the 2009 Florida State Fair, where one review called chocolate covered bacon the "greatest thing since deep-fried Pepsi."

In the movies, Wolverine is shown as 6'2"; in the comic books, however, he's a runt measuring in at about 5'2". Its an awesome piece showing just how bad a$$ Wolverine is, going up against someone as big and powerful as the Juggernaut.
This is one of my favorite comic pages of all time. If I could blow this up & frame it, I totally would!!!!

Thinking....

So, I've been thinking.....
I've been seeing blogs out there that are "specialized" blogs-meaning that they only talk about one specific topic. While my blog isn't like that exactly, I got to thinking, what if I did have the blog be specialized? I had to shot down the idea at first because I have way to much comic book art, music and movie stuff that I need to put on here. But then I thought, what if I borught the timeline down? Hmmmmmm......


So, starting in March, the blog will be a "specialized" blog for 31 days. One topic & one topic only. So, what's the first topic? You'll have to come back on March 1 to find out. But, I will give a hint, if you were born in the 80's, you may like it! :P

Stupid Deezer

Ok, so if you have logged on to my blog, you've noticed a mini ipod to the right with my "test" playlist. Blame Deezer. For some reason, Deezer won't let me play my music the way that I want. It's taken away the choice of playing any indivdual songs, and replaced it with "smart play", which is just a randoming effect on your playlist. So, the hell with them. I found this little widget off of someone else's blog (sorry, I don't remember whose it was), and will be tinkering with it until I like all the songs on there, and know all of them work.
So far, no complaints. It gives me more choices on where to get the song, which is good, plus it has a bunch of new artists that I like!

Let's see how it goes....

Did You Know? Wolverine Edition

Russell Crowe was director Bryan Singer's first choice to play Wolverine in the first "X-Men" movie, but his asking price was too high. Scottish actor Dougray Scott was then cast, but he dropped out when filming went long on "Mission: Impossible 2." Hugh Jackman stepped into the role two weeks into filming, and at 6'2", he stands about a foot taller than how Wolverine is depicted in the comics.

Co-creator Len Wein's original idea was that the character was actually a wolverine cub that was mutated into human form. He also intended for Wolverine's signature claws to extend from his gloves, not from his body. But these ideas were dropped when new writer Chris Claremont took over the series.

Star Trek Teaser Trailer

I just saw the teaser trailer for Star Trek (again, shown during the Superbowl), and have to say, it looks really good.
I'm a huge Star Trek fan, so hopefully I won't be dissapointed!
2009 for movies should be a good year, or a very, very bad year!

I didn't even know they put out a trailer for this movie; see what happens when you don't watch the Superbowl?
Anyways, it doesn't look horrible; buuuut, I'm not going to hold my breath. Hopefully, I'm wrong on my thinking of this movie....

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

I can't believe I haven't posted this!
It's the teaser trailer to the 2nd installment of the Transformers film franchise. It looks really good, although I can't tell who some of the new characters are in this trailer.

Creepy (Yet Again)

I found yet another creepy picture of the Joker, done by the same artist as before, Lee Bejermo. This one is pencils only, with no inks, and no color. Even though it's in black and white, it's still very creepy; and conveys the Joker's sadistic personality well. When I see this picture, I can totally see Heath Ledger's Joker doing this....
