Perhaps one of the most popular comic artists today, Michael Turner suddenly passed away Friday night, after a long battle with cancer. Starting out working for Top Cow Comics, he later started his own publishing company, ASPEN MLT. He was well known in the industry, but really started turning heads when he worked on DC Comics INDENTITY CRISIS as well as the reintroduction of SUPERGIRL back into the DC mainstream. He later worked for Marvel, working on various projects, such as CIVIL WAR & SECRET INVASION.

IMO, his artwork was awesome. Although it is not like other artists' "realistic" feel, his style was all his own. I was always blown away by his work, and attention to detail. I don't think I can I can truly describe what his style was, so I have posted some of his work below. (More of his artwork will be put up in different sections.)

I think the first pic describes it best.....

The same picture, but just in color...

New York, New York

This has to be one of the best pictures I've ever seen of NY. It was taken by my fiancee in 2002 or 2003, I can't remember when.

This has to be one of the creepiest pictures of the Joker I have ever come across. It doesn't even show his face, but it's just creepy nonetheless....

Artist of the Week....GREG HORN

Greg Horn is an artist who is known for his very detailed and very realistic work. Some of his work is so good that it almost looks like a photograph, as opposed to being a painted picture! Working mostly in comic books, he is well known in the comic book community. In an earlier post, I showed some of his recent Marvel Comics "Secret Invasion" promos. You can go to his website to check out all his work: Greg Horn's Official Website. Here is the Artist of the Week....GREG HORN!
